Intercon, Inc. kicks off 25th year of producing American-made products in Forest

Celebration to be held Sept. 29 at 1:15 p.m. with employees, elected officials and business leaders

Forest, VA -Intercon, Inc. officials will join elected officials and business leaders on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 1:15 p.m. to kick off its 25th year in business with an in-house employee celebration. The Forest-based company, established in 1987, is a world class custom cable assembly and wire harness manufacturer.

“We’re a veteran owned company and we take a lot of pride in doing business with our fellow Virginians,” says Joe Stephens, VP & General Manager of Intercon which has experienced 25 percent sales growth since last year. “We’re pleased to see continued growth in our business even during difficult times.”

Intercon employs 57 full time employees, as well as several “temp to hire” workers.

Intercon has carved its niche by providing high quality, short run products in rapid turn-around time. The company prides itself on the capability to build Over-molded, Discrete Wire Harnesses, Radio Frequency (RF) Cable Assemblies, Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies, Flat, and Conduit cables according to customer specification.

Congressman Bob Goodlatte and Senator Steve Newman will attend the kickoff event to meet with employees. “Our employees take pride in their work and they are very proud to be contributing to the stamp of quality that inherently goes along with a Made in the USA product,” said Stephens.

Intercon hopes the event will help the company strengthen its visibility in Central Virginia and with other Region 2000 businesses. The company is currently expanding its opportunities with Homeland Security and Defense/Military Contractors within the defense/avionics/aerospace industries.

In closing of the event SGT Michael Hughes with the VA Army National Guard visited with our VP & General Manager Joe Stephens as well as Customer Service Manager, Alison Richardson. SGT Hughes presented Intercon with an letter of appreciation from the National Guard and a cased American Flag to display. This was for all the support given to SGT Hughes family during his recent kidney donation to a fellow soldier. The cased American Flag presented is one that is presented to every soldier upon the return from war zones. Our VP Joe Stephens and Customer Service Manager Alison Richardson were overwhelmed with emotions and honored to accept and display this gift.
